Disinfectants and Infection Control in Hospitals
- Each hospital should have an infection control nurse/doctor and infection control committee.
- Vaccinate all nurses and hospital physicians and medical students against Hepatitis B.
- Conduct annual checks of staff for Hepatitis C in high risk situations.
- Monitor all major hospitals for cases of multidrug resistant tuberculosis.
- Monitor all hospitals acquired infections.
- Make curriculum changes. Educate nursing staff, medical staff of infection control measures and hospital acquired infections.
- Every staff member shall attend three infection control workshops.
- Each hospital should develop their own infection control protocols.
- Infection control course and certification should be established for infection control nurses.
- Protect patients from infection from medical equipments and devices.
- Implement appropriate methods of disinfection.
- Sterilization of high risk instruments, surgical instruments should be done according to protocols/guidelines.
- Disinfection of moderate risk instruments should be done with appropriate disinfectant.
