Family Health Organization Inc. is a community-based program founded by a Pakistani American, Dr. Ayaz Samadani that includes diverse public health and school health projects. With over 86,000 dead and a staggering 3.3 million people rendered homeless in the earthquake region. Dr. Samadani, has begun a fund drive to provide temporary shelter for those individuals and families affected by the massive earthquake in South Asia. He has already collected and sent over $100,000 worth of medical supplies to Pakistan.
The funds collected by Dr. Samadani will continue to be disbursed to local non-profit organizations in the disaster areas, which are playing a critical role in providing emergency relief as well as organizing temporary rehabilitation for those affected until reconstruction can begin in 2006.
