Pollution, COVID-19 Pandemic, Devastating Dengue Fever & Overcrowding in Pakistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) describes air pollution as the “single biggest environmental threat to human health,” and estimates that 99 percent of the world’s population live in locations that are above WHO thresholds to protect health. Pregnant people, children, older people, people with disabilities, people with conditions such as asthma, and socially and economically marginalized populations are more likely to be exposed to or adversely affected by toxic air.

Fair Finance Pakistan, an organization working to address the impact of climate change, has estimated that air pollution leads to at least 128,000 deaths in Pakistan every year; the real number is likely higher.

Pakistan natural disasters that affects the well-being of our population.

Extreme weather events have been noticed due to climate change. There are earthquakes, hurricanes and cyclones, sandstorms an extreme heat, and seasonal floods.

All areas in Pakistan are vulnerable and especially coastal areas and mountainous areas.

Recent Monsoon rains followed by extreme degree of flooding of 30% of agricultural land in Pakistan resulted in devastating consequences. Pakistan's land area equivalent to the state of Florida or the size of the United Kingdom is under water. Ready to harvest crops have been completely destroyed by the floods. 20 million people are affected. 3.6 million children are homeless.

Water borne disease are a real threat with watery diarrhea already affecting thousands. Cholera and Hepatitis A is going to be affecting millions. People have lost their savings, crops, homes and lives. The need is tremendous.
